Location: California / Indio
One of the most vibrant events in the world of contemporary music in the United States takes place near Indio, California.
Coachella Valley is home to the three-day outdoor festival of the same name. Coachella Festival has been held regularly every April since 2001. Different areas of independent music – indie rock, hip-hop, electronic and even variations of pop music are played at numerous venues of the festival almost simultaneously. The common space is united by light and sound installations and pyrotechnic objects.
An important area of the festival has become the organization of sculpture exhibitions. Performances take place on several stages named after the world’s great deserts, such as: “Gobi,” “Mojavi,” and “Sahara.” At one of the venues, the Outdoor Theatre’s outdoor stage gives performances. One of the reasons for the great popularity of Coachella is the excellent technical and domestic facilities. To accommodate all comers, the festival is even held in two stages.
In 2020, the festival was held the weekends of April 10-12 and April 17-19.
This year’s Coachella festival was canceled because of COVID-19
