1.DONAUINSELFEST, Vienna, Austria

Few music festivals of this scale take place anywhere in the world. In Europe the open-air festival Donauinselfest is considered the largest – every year it receives about 3 million guests. Pop and rock, alternative and indie, punk and hip-hop music has been played at its venues for 35 years already.

For three days, Vienna’s entire cultural scene takes place on Donauinsel Island. Plays, concerts, and performances take place on different stages of the Austrian capital city. The center of Vienna is connected to the island by a ferry.

  1. Pol’and’Rock, Kostrzyn nad Odrą, Poland

This story began in 1969, when the Woodstok rock festival was held in the United States. At that time the festival proclaimed the end of the era of “flower children”. In Eastern Europe, this legend was reborn at the Polish Pol’and’Rock festival, picking up the spirit of freedom, pacifism, ecology.

In 2019, the festival in western Poland celebrated its 25th anniversary. Great musicians have been guests of the festival over the years: Damian Marley, Emir Kusturica, Papa Roach, Asian Dub Foundation, The Prodigy, Guano Apes.

According to the organizers, the festival hosted about 700,000 people.

Budapest welcomes music fans at the end of summer at SZIGET FESTIVAL.

SZIGET FESTIVAL has been held for 25 years and has won the hearts of fans with great names. At various times, the following stars have performed here

Music Festivals 2020

Glastonbury Festival – opens up a variety of genres from rock and pop to house and techno. Music lovers from around the world have been flocking to Somerset for 30 years. In 2019, the Glastonbury Music Festival drew 200,000 people each day.

The first Glastonbury festival was held the day after Jimi Hendrix died back in 1970.

Over the years, legends of different styles of music – Arctic Monkeys, Rolling Stones, Kanye West, Radiohead – have performed on the famous Pyramid Festival Stage. Headliners of the festival in 2020 will be Diana Ross and Paul McCartney.

Stroll through Shangri-La, the festival’s nightlife district, and enter a themed world full of exciting theatrical action, voiced by some of electronic music’s best and underground names. The circus and cabaret field are the venues for circus performers and the best comedians in the country. But the industrial crane structure is open only to the most hardcore ravers.

The ticket price includes the opportunity to pitch a tent at the campground. Different areas have different atmospheres. For example, Pennard Hill Ground, between the park and Healing Fields, is the most popular and lively place. It has its own culture and atmosphere with people returning year after year. In contrast, the camping areas on the periphery of Limekilns and Hitchin Hill Groun are considered quieter. Some of the camping fields are already occupied and fill up quickly, but there tends to be more camping space to the west of the park.

  1. PRIMAVERA SOUND, Barcelona, Spain

Primavera Sound has long been considered the benchmark for urban music festivals. Primavera Sound is a must-see music event. Each year the festival attracts up to 200,000 people.

The festival was born in Barcelona in 2000, and in 2020 it celebrated its 20th anniversary. During that time many great names have been heard on its stages. Kendrick Lamar, Neil Young, Pet Shop Boys, Pavement, Echo & The Bunnymen, Public Enemy, Grinderman, Franz Ferdinand, Phoenix are just some of the musicians who participate in the festival to this day.

  1. NOS PRIMAVERA SOUND, Porto, Portugal

NOS Primavera Sound is the Portuguese equivalent of Primavera Sound, which takes place in Porto, Portugal, a week after Primavera in Barcelona. In 2019, the festival attracted 75,000 participants and is not going to stop there.

So if you’re planning a trip to Portugal in 2021, pick early June.

  1. ULTRA EUROPE, Park Mladeži, Split, Croatia

More than twenty years ago, ULTRA Music Festival in Miami Beach began to gather thousands of fans of electronic music and became one of the world’s leading festival brands. Croatia picked up the baton and since 2015 club music lovers gather in Split. For a few days, the surroundings of the soccer stadium “Polud” are transformed into an arena for one of the brightest music shows in Europe. Light shows, special effects, fireworks and the most popular DJs of the world keep Dolmation awake for three days.

The festival attracts about 150,000 people.

  1. MYSTERYLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL, Haarlemmermer, The Netherlands

The last weekend of the summer is awesome to spend 20 km away from Amsterdam at the Mysteryland festival.

More than 300 artists of different music genres House, Bass, Techno, Deep-House, Trance, Hardcore, RnB and Hip Hop will perform in 17 venues. Open dance floors, pavilions with LED screens, and laser shows create an endless celebration.

In 2019, the festival attracted nearly 100,000 attendees.

  1. Melt Festival, Ferropolis, Germany,

On a small peninsula 150 km southwest of Berlin, on the shores of Lake Gremmin, an unusual town, Ferropolis, is hidden away. The former coal mine was closed and the huge mining machines were turned into a museum city – Iron City.

Now this extraordinary place of giant iron machines is a popular scene of music festivals and concerts in Germany.

Melt Festival breaks all boundaries of genres: harsh techno meets soulful saxophone themes, powerful guitar riffs alternate with virtuosic percussion beats. Pop music and heavy rock effectively complement the futuristic atmosphere of Iron City. Musical legends and newcomers gather on one stage.

During the 20 years of its existence the festival has hosted Björk, Oasis, Portishead, Aphex Twin, Massive Attack, Pet Shop Boys, Franz Ferdinand and Underworld.
